Friday is an Organizational Day for teachers. There is no school for students.

Open House – Meet the School Staff Evening

Thomas B. Riley School will be holding an in-person Open House for Meet the Teacher night on Thursday September 21, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the school.

We will begin the evening in the gym at 5:30pm for a brief welcome and introduction of our administrative team as well as a presentation from our Phys. Ed teachers. Following this, each grade team of teachers will be hosting a brief presentation in spaces around our school and providing an overview of the school year and what to expect as well as an opportunity to ask questions and see the learning spaces in our school.

Students attending our Paced Learning Program (PLP) and Adapted Learning Program (ALP) are invited to book an individual conference on Thursday September 21, 2022 between 5:30-pm-7:30pm. If your child attends one of these programs, please email your child’s teacher directly to book in a time.

Schedule for the Evening:

6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm – Grade/Department Team Presentations (repeated every 30 minutes)

Updating Demographic Information – Due Sept 18

You will have received an email from CBE regarding updating your child’s demographic information in Powerschool. These forms used to be completed via paper copies and now are required to be completed annually online. All parents must review, complete or update their child’s forms through Powerschool by clicking on the School Engage tab. Please complete this by the deadline of Monday September 18, 2023

We need you on School Council!

Are you looking for an opportunity to be more involved in our school community, have input into important decisions regarding school spending, and meeting some amazing people along the way? Please consider being a part of our TBR School Council this year. We need you! We have several vacant positions on the School Council including the very important Treasurer Role. We are also in need of a Fundraising Coordinator and a Casino Coordinator as well in order to run a functional council this year. We would also love to have you come and be a part of the fun, even if you cannot commit to a role at this time. Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 6:30pm at the school. We cannot do it without you!

Athletic Updates

Cross-Country

Cross country running practice: Monday September 18 after school from 2:45 pm to 3:50 pm. Team members should arrange for a parent/guardian to pick them up by 4:00 pm. Students will be provided a map for the meet on Tuesday at the practice.

 

Cross country running meet: Tuesday September 19 at West Confederation Park. Try and be there by 4:15 pm at the latest to walk the course before the meet begins at 4:40 pm. Team members are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the meet.

 

Basketball The first girls practice this week will be Tuesday September 19th from 2:45pm -3:45pm.

 

Starting September 25th the girls will practices will be set as every Monday and Wednesday from 2:45pm-3:45pm for the remainder of the season.

 

The first boys practice this week will be Wednesday September 20th from 2:45pm-3:45pm

 

Starting September 26th the boys practices will be set as every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45pm-3:45pm for the remainder of the season

 

Soccer

Boys Soccer – Practice will be held today after-school from 2:45pm-3:45pm.  Please ensure your child has a ride home.  Our first game is Tuesday at home field at First Lady of Assumption.  Please come prepared with the correct equipment.

 

Girls Soccer – First game is today at Tom Baines School. Please ensure students arrive at 4:15pm. The second game is Wednesday at Our Lady of Assumption School. Tuesday practice is at the school from 2:45pm-3:45pm.
