Dear Thomas B. Riley Families,
Shout Out to Our Student Athletes
So far we have wrapped up Cross Country and Soccer for the year. I have to say that each of these teams have impressed us more this year than perhaps any other. Not because of their athletic ability, though this has improved substantially for all teams from the beginning of the season, but because of their sportsmanship, respect, and dignity in all meets, practices, and games.
I know I speak on behalf of our entire school community that we are so proud of our TBR Athletics teams this year. Every game you showed up, showed out, and gave it your all. Even in the face of adversity, you never lost your cool, you held your head high, and you represented our school exceptionally well. I could not be prouder of our athletes. GO RAVENS!
No School Monday
Monday is a holiday. There is no school for staff or students.
IPPs Going Home Today
If your child has an Individualized Program Plan (IPP) they will be going home on Friday October 9, 2026. Please ensure the signature page is signed and sent back no later than October 15, 2026. If you have questions about the IPP please connect with your child’s homeroom teacher.
Next School Council Meeting is Online – Thursday, October 22, 2026
Due to a conflict with our school hosting basketball on the Wednesday of this week, we have to move our school council meeting to Thursday, October 22, 2026. This meeting will be hosted online. Link to follow.
Updating Demographic Information – OVERDUE
Currently we have about 100 families that have not complete their demographic forms in School Engage. This is a requirement for all families. Please ensure it is done urgently.
You will have received an email from CBE regarding updating your child’s demographic information in Powerschool. These forms used to be completed via paper copies and now are required to be completed annually online. All parents must review, complete or update their child’s forms through Powerschool by clicking on the School Engage tab.
This is now an overdue task. Please ensure it is done urgently. Otherwise our school staff will be following up directly with families.
Save the Date! Friday November 27 & Saturday November 28
Pure Casino Calgary

WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you are interested and able to volunteer, please pick a shift. No experience necessary; paid casino advisors will be there with us, all day, and teach us everything we need to know. Easy peasy work and fun!
If you are a night owl and able to work evenings and stay awake past 10pm…even better! Please grab a PM shift.
If you have a friend or family member that you’d like to work a shift with, signup for two shifts. You will just need to put their email address and their phone number in.
This is by far, the biggest fundraiser that TBR will have. We are only granted a casino by AGLC, once every 18 - 24 months. Our last casino was in 2023! TBR will receive between $70,000 - $80,000 from this one, two day event. To put that into perspective, a regular ‘good’ fundraiser raises less than $1,000.
One note - if you are able to work both days, it has to be the same job. You cannot signup for Banker one day and Count Room Staff the next day.
