What's Happening @TBR - Week of January 15, 2024
Dear Thomas B Riley Families,
We hope you are staying warm during this cold snap. Thank you for your flexibility in reschedule after school activities last week. We appreciate your willingness to work with us to ensure that all students and staff arrive home safe in this extreme weather.
No School Monday
As a reminder, today is a professional learning day for all staff. There is no school. School will resume on Tuesday.
Skiing/Snowboarding Field Trips
All students have the opportunity to attend a very exciting field trip to Canada Olympic Park on various dates. It is important their forms are returned to the school as soon as possible so that COP staff are able to begin putting them into ability groups.
Cost should never be a barrier for any field trip the school offers. If financial assistance is needed in order for your child to attend, please contact Mrs. Austin directly at taaustin@cbe.ab.ca as soon as possible.
Fees for this field trip are uploaded to your Powerschool account.
Welcome to Mrs. Elnazali!
Mrs. Elnazali will be taking over Mr. Haseltine’s position teaching French and an options class for the duration of the school year.
Mr. Haseltine has made a decision to pursue other opportunities and we are grateful for his time with us at TBR. We wish him all the best in the future.
Bowness High School Tour – Wednesday
Weather permitting, students designated to Bowness High School will walk to the school on Wednesday where they will be led in a tour and orientation from 9:00am-12:45pm. This is a walking trip so no permission slips are required. We are giving you advance notice of this trip if this pertains to your child.
Dress for Success
As we know, the weather has taken a turn. It is important students are arriving at school with a winter jacket, hat, boots and gloves. If your child is in need of any of these items please let the school know and we can see what we can do to support. We have lots of winter jackets at the school available for students to take home if needed. In the event of an evacuation they may be outside for an extended time, therefore it is important to come prepared in all weather even if students expect to be in the building the full day.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Austin
