Learning Commons at the CBE
Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.
School Literary Materials Selection
Related to Ministerial Order (#034/2025), Standards for the Selection, Availability, and Access of School Library Materials, CBE has published an administrative regulation AR3051: School Literary Materials Selection. Families and community members can request a review or reconsideration of a literary resource in a school's learning commons by completing the School Library Materials Reconsideration Challenge Request through their local school.
CBE also has an eLibrary online tool available to families, students and staff, which is an online catalogue for all CBE school libraries with detailed information on books, DVD’s and other resources that are available to borrow.
Additionally, parents and legal guardians are welcome to review classroom library collections by contacting your child's school.
Our Learning Commons
Students will be visiting the Learning Commons where the school library is located along with our computer lab and a shared common area used for collaboration. In addition to a well-stocked library, students may also borrow novels and families will be asked to replace traditional library books that are lost, damaged, or destroyed while in their child’s care.
ll students may access the library throughout the school day. They may sign out two books. The books are overdue after two weeks. The library generates an overdue notice and late fees will be applied. After the second notice, you will be billed the cost to replace the book.
Borrowing Rules
- All students are welcome to use the library during the times assigned by their teachers.
- Students are required to use the sign-out sheet on the library counter to sign out books on Fridays or at other times when there is no one to assist you.
- Please do not bring food or drinks into the library.
- Students can check on the status of their library loans using the CBE’s eLibrary application.
