Dear Thomas B Riley Families,
Technology Update
A huge thank you to our TB Riley School Council along with a whole host of parents and families who supported our recent School Casino Fundraiser in December! We are thrilled to announce that as a result of their efforts we were able to order several new iPads along with two full carts of laptops. We will have a total of 33 additional Mac Air laptops as well as 40 Chromebooks and two additional laptop carts. This will make a significant difference in our students’ access to technology within our school. We could not have done this without your support!
Updating our School Motto and Logo
Currently our school has several logos that have floated around and remain connected to our school. On our school wall we have the Vikings. Our school website has a Raccoon (some say a Badger). There are also iterations of TBR in specialized font. The student leadership team has asked all homerooms for input into how they feel about our school logos, do any of them represent us? What values do we want to reflect in an updated logo and motto?
Overwhelmingly, the feedback from students through our student is that “Raiders” does not hold a positive connotation, particularly when paired with a Raccoon. They want a change.
A school survey will be coming soon for you to offer your perspective on our next steps. We appreciate any ideas and input in the upcoming weeks. In meantime, feel free to email any further thoughts and perspectives to Mrs. Austin at taaustin@cbe.ab.ca.
Spirit Day this Thursday – Pajama Day
Students are welcome to wear their Pajamas to school on Thursday for our next Spirit Day. This was a popular request from our student leadership team. If TLC students are choosing not to participate they are asked to wear their uniform.
