Dear Thomas B. Riley Families,

School Council Meetings – Join us!

Are you looking for an opportunity to be more involved in our school community, have input into important decisions regarding school spending, and meeting some amazing people along the way? Please consider being a part of our TBR School Council this year. We need you! We have several vacant positions on the School Council including the very important Secretary Role.

We would also love to have you come and be a part of the fun, even if you cannot commit to a role at this time. Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the school at 6pm. We cannot do it without you!

Dates of Meetings: Sept 18, Oct 23, Nov 20, Dec 11, Jan 22, March 5, April 16, May 21, June 18

Updating Demographic Information – Due Sept 20

You will have received an email from CBE regarding updating your child’s demographic information in Powerschool. These forms used to be completed via paper copies and now are required to be completed annually online. All parents must review, complete or update their child’s forms through Powerschool by clicking on the School Engage tab.

Athletics – Spectator Policy

We are very excited to be kicking off a new Athletics season! Both Soccer and Basketball begin soon!

Soccer: Spectators including families and TBR students are welcome to come cheer on our Boys and Girls soccer games at the Our Lady of Assumption field. We ask that you please remain in the designated spectator area and ensure you have your own transportation home.

Basketball: Students who wish to attend Home Games this year are invited to attend either with a parent/guardian OR they are invited to sign up for the *NEW TBR Home Game Club where they will be supervised in a designated spot in the gym by a school staff member. Participation in the Home Game Club requires that the students have transportation home directly following the final game.

For TBR students who wish to attend Away Games for basketball this year, the divisional rule still applies where each student must attend with their personal parent/guardian.

A reminder that our coaches are school staff members volunteering their own time and energy for the benefit of our student athletes. Respectful behaviour is a requirement. Sideline coaching is not allowed. Abusive language and any disrespectful words or actions towards players, other spectators, or coaches will result in immediate removal from the game and a possible ban for future games. School administration will be attendance at all Home and Away games to ensure all students and families are contributing to a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful environment at all times.

Gym Strip and Hoodies

We appreciate your patience on ordering gym strip as we make the final move from TBR Raider gear to TBR Ravens, with our updated logo.

Both gym strip and hoodies will be available to purchase soon. In the meantime, students are welcome to change into comfortable clothes for gym and bring clothes from home. We will update you as soon as the new items have arrived and are available for purchase.

Breakfast Club and Lunch Program

Our school offers a breakfast program to all students who may require additional food to begin their day of learning. Doors open at 7:45am and breakfast is served in our cafeteria until 7:55am.

In addition, our school participates in the Brown Bag Program for students/families in need of additional food security. If you would like to access this program, please email Mrs. Austin directly at taaustin@cbe.ab.ca and we will sign your child up to receive a daily lunch including a sandwich and vegetables.

My Bus Stop App

The best way to stay up to date regarding your child’s progress along its route and for bus delays is to ensure that you have downloaded the MyBusStop App. The school code to add your route is found in your Powerschool account under the Bus tab. The school is not able to provide this information as it is tied to your transportation registration.
