Dear Thomas B. Riley Families,

Reminders of TLC Expectations

Uniforms

We have noticed a significant decline in students’ attending to their uniform requirements in our TLC program. As a reminder, Mondays are for formal wear and the rest of the week they are required to be in their full uniform. Students may wear hoodies only if they are wearing their correct uniform underneath. In addition, students must wear fully black shoes at all times with the exception of P.E.

If students are not able to comply with these uniform requirements, our first step will be to say that hoodies are no longer allowed to be worn Monday-Thursday.

Band Performances

Band is a mandatory part of our TLC Program. Students must be prepared to engage in band activities for the full duration of the school year if they are part of this program. In addition, all performances, including field trips and concerts are mandatory to attend.

Failure to actively engage in the Band Program fully will require a conversation about suitability for the TLC Program.

Coco Brooks Pick Up – Thursday May 22, 2024

If you ordered from our Coco Brooks fundraiser, pickup is this Wednesday after school in the church parking lot. Please ensure if you are unable to come at 2:30pm that you send someone in your place. As these are freezer foods, they will not be kept by the school and will spoil if not collected.

Spirit Day – Thursday May 23, 2024

Thursday May 23 is Drop Everything and Read Day. Students are asked to bring a school-appropriate book or magazine and carry it with them for the duration of the school day. When the music plays, students will stop what they are doing and read until the music comes back on.

School Council – Wednesday May 22, 2024 @6pm

Our next School Council meeting is this Wednesday at 6pm in the learning commons. We hope you can join us for some exciting updates about our school logo, and upcoming activities planned for June.

      • This means there are no mandatory online meetings/classes with the teacher

      • Communication with the teacher, through the D2L shell is critical to a student’s success
      • Students can accelerate their learning and complete the course early
      • D2L may not work outside of Canada

    • Before June 28 students are asked to contact their home school administrator

  • Every student will be asked to complete ‘Essentials for Learning’ prior to beginning Math 15
