Dear TB Riley Families,

Spirit Day

TBR will be holding a spirit day on Monday, March 17, 2025. Students are invited to wear all things GREEN in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. If students in TLC are not participating in the spirit day they should come in formal attire.

Grade 7 Field Trip to Winsport

All Grade 7s are attending Winsport for a full day of skiing/snowboarding on Monday, March 17, 2025. Please ensure if your child is attending that they bring snowpants, jacket, and gloves. Students may bring their own helmet if they choose. All other ski or snowboarding equipment will be provided. Students and volunteers are not permitted to bring any other equipment with them to school or on the hill.

A reminder that this is a mandatory field trip as part of the Phys. Ed curriculum. Costs for this field trip are based on all students attending. If students are choosing not to attend they must remain at home as there is no alternate activities offered at the school for the day. In addition, fees will not be waived if students are choosing not to attend.

If costs/fees for this trip are a barrier, please email Mrs. Austin at taaustin@cbe.ab.ca to discuss fee waivers. No child will be denied the opportunity to participate due to financial constraints.

Thank you to school council for their generous support of this field trip in keeping the cost to half of the original amount.

CBE Survey

Students in Grades 8 and 9 are invited to participate in the CBE survey which will be administered at the school beginning next week until April 11, 2025.

About the CBE Student Survey

§  Allows students to voice their feedback on their experiences at school, the school environment and school improvement programs.

§  Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement.

§  The survey should take about 60 to 80 minutes to complete.

The CBE Student Survey is an opportunity for students to:

§  report on themselves, their own abilities, and their accomplishments; and

§  take pride in what they have achieved.

In alignment with CBE’s Education Plan, the results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are:

§  at the centre of all CBE decisions;

§  able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and

§  demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.

If you have questions or would like to request more information about the upcoming implementation of the CBE Student Survey, please contact the school.

Our school planning survey is now open. We invite your participation regarding school planning and school fees at Thomas B. Riley School. The intention is to gather feedback that may be considered in making future school planning decisions.
