Dear Thomas B. Riley Families,
PATs this Week
Our final three PATs will be written on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday this week.
A reminder to parents and guardians that school is still in session for the duration of the school day following the exam. If you need to excuse your child, please email the main office at thomasbriley@cbe.ab.ca the morning of the exam. We are not allowing students to call home in the middle of the day as it is causing a significant disruption in the office. Please be advised that they are missing valuable instructional time if they leave early.
Track Meet Today
We are cheering on our TB Riley track meet stars in the Divisional Track Meet today. Good luck to all of our track stars! We know you will represent our school well.
Brandon Ross Legacy Project
For any students, staff, or parents that would like to participate in the Legacy Project for Brandon Ross, the details are below:
All of the characters are Brandon’s. The artist will be outlining all of the characters, and for any volunteers that show up, they will be welcomed to complete the painting of the characters.
- Students should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle.
- Students should wear old clothing that they (or their parents!) don’t mind getting paint on.
- All painting supplies will be provided by us.
- Access to the site is a 10-15 min walk from the Bowmont Park parking lot at the top of Home Road. I, or one of my daughters, will be at the parking lot to guide kids to the site at the start of each shift.
- I have no idea how many kids will show up, but we probably couldn’t support any more than 10 students at a time. Others would be welcome to just hang out. It might make sense to have a sign-up sheet with 4 ’shifts’, as follows:
- Sat 22 June, 10am-12 pm
- Sat 22 June, 1pm-3pm
- Sun 23 June, 10am-12pm
- Sun 23 June, 1pm-3pm
- I will have my cell phone on site, 403.909.7677 for any kids that don’t have their own cell phones, and whose parents may need to reach us (or for the kids to call their parents for pick up).
- In the event of rain we will have to reschedule, but fingers crossed for good weather
Student Absences – End of Year
If your child will be absent from school for the duration of the school year prior to June 27th please ensure you have emailed the office and your child’s homeroom teacher to let them know. It is imperative their locker is cleaned out and their lock is returned. Otherwise you will incur an $11 charge on your Powerschool account at the end of the year for its replacement.
Locker Clean Out
We are going to begin the process of cleaning out lockers on Thursday June 20, 2024. All students will return their locks to their homeroom teacher on this day and lockers will no longer be used after this date for the duration of the school year.
Our Away for the Day cell phone policy remains in effect. The only change is that students may bring a small bag/lunch to class starting Thursday June 20. Backpacks will be lined up along the back wall of classrooms so they are secure but not readily accessible or a distraction during class. Students are asked to keep their cellphones are air pods in their bag/backpack in the classroom after this date.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Austin
