No School Friday

There is no school on Friday for students. This is a professional learning day for all staff.

Grade 8 Winsport Field Trip

All Grade 8s attending Winsport for a full day of skiing/snowboarding. Please ensure if your child is attending that they bring snowpants, jacket, and gloves. Students may bring their own helmet if they choose. All other ski or snowboarding equipment will be provided. Students are not permitted to bring any other equipment with them to school or on the hill.

Thank you to school council for their generous support of this field trip in keeping the cost to half of the original amount.

This is mandatory field trip as an extension of their school day and a part of their PE program curricular expectations. Students choosing not to attend must remain at home as no alternative arrangements are made at the school for the day. In addition, fees are calculated in advance based on all students attending. You are still responsible for the full field trip fee if your child is choosing not to attend. This was communicated to all students in advance and in previous weekly messages.

If cost is a factor, please contact Mrs. Austin in advance to discuss fee waivers. No child will be denied the opportunity to attend based on cost.

Well-Being Symposium

Students who have been selected as part of our Well-Being Team have been provided with information for attending the symposium on Monday. A reminder that transportation to and from this event is the responsibility of parents/guardians. Thank you to the students who are participating in Grade 7, 8, and 9. Thank you for representing our school in this important event and for the work of Mrs. Shah and Mr. T leading up to this day!

Volleyball Season Begins!

Our first volleyball game of the season is on Monday! We are pleased to begin the season and we know our athletes are pumped to get started. We look forward to an exciting new season.

Spectator Reminders for Volleyball

All CBE Middle Schools have set similar expectations for games that promote safety, respect and a positive experience for players, coaches, other spectators and the hosting school. The expectations are as follows:

-        All students (spectators and athletes) must return home or be off school property in between the end of the school day at 2:30pm and game start at 4:00pm. There is no supervision at the school provided and students are not able to remain at school in between.

-        Players who remain at the school must be under the direct supervision of the coach and not wandering in the school. This must be arranged in advance.

-        For all Away games, students must have their personal parent or guardian accompany them to all games. They may not be supervised by someone who is not their parent/guardian.

-        For all home games, students must be under the direct supervision of an adult for the entirety of the games.

-        There are no in and out privileges for spectators. If you leave the building you should not re-enter

-        All visitors must enter our building through the main doors only. Entrance through an alterative door may trigger security protocols and result in significant consequences for students letting others in the school. This would be a significant security risk for everyone in the building.

-        Student spectators without parental supervision will be directed by the hosting school administration to leave the building immediately.

-        All spectators are expected to cheer and support the players, coaches, referees, etc. in a positive manner.

-        Disrespectful behaviour from students or spectators will be addressed by the hosting school administration as well as your home school administration as a follow up. The student and parent code of conduct applies at all times. Spectators may be asked to leave the school depending on the severity of the issue. Parents also may be asked not to return.

-        Parents/guardians who bring younger children are responsible for direct supervision at all times. The rest of the school is closed and off limits. Please ensure children are not in the hallways or playing on the stage or with any school equipment.

Thank you for your attention to these. Students have been informed as well today during announcements. We thank you in advance for your ongoing support and look forward to the best year yet for our athletics teams! GO RAVENS!
