Dear TB Riley Families,

No School – Friday April 18 and Monday April 21

There is no school on Friday, April 18, 2025 due to Good Friday. In addition, there is no school on Monday, April 21, 2025 due to a school-wide PD Day for teachers. School will resume for all students on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

In It to Win It! Homeroom Challenge Day

A small but mighty group of Grade 9 students has offered to plan a Friday Homeroom Challenge day for students in all grades and programs. On Friday, April 25, 2025 all students are invited to the gym to compete in a variety of activities within their grade groups. This is a community building activity. The winners in each grade will return for a final challenge round in the last period of the day. The winners of this championship round get an extra pie to pie the PE or administration team in the following two weeks during the next Homeroom Block.

Calgary Weather and PE Class

As the weather warms up it is important that all students are dressed for PE classes outside on any given day. Students should be ready to participate outside every day. As we know the weather can change quickly in Calgary. Students are expected to come prepared with a hat, jacket, and mitts as required for outside PE. Students are not permitted to miss instruction for the day because they have not adequately prepared.

Next Year Intent Form

It is very important we have an accurate count of students who are expected to attend TBR next school year. This helps us to plan for appropriate staffing levels and minimizes the need to reorganize in September and either add or collapse homerooms.

If you know that you that your child will not be attending TBR next year we ask that you please let us know so we can designate them to the correct school. If you have applied to a program outside of CBE and are still waiting to hear back, please let us know this also. You will not lose your spot if you change your mind, but it helps us to plan accordingly in advance. If either of these situations apply, please fill out this form:

Thank you for your attention to this. If your child is planning to attend next year, no action is required.

Math 15 – Summer School Opportunity for Grade 9 Students

Registration is coming up soon for current Grade 9 students interested in enrolling in Math 15 as a Summer School course. This course is designed to be completed through an asynchronous learning platform during July and August, and requires student commitment and strong parental support.

Math 15 aims to boost student confidence and competence in mathematical areas such as operational understanding, applying multiple literacies, problem-solving, and effective communication. The course focuses on enhancing numeracy skills through extra practice on previously taught concepts to strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

If your student would like to register for the course, please email Mrs. Shah at dsshah@cbe.ab.ca before April 30, 2025, to express your interest. She will follow up with the details.  Registration will officially take place the first few weeks of May.
